Sci-Fi, Comedy | 68 minutes | 2022

After waking from a meaningless one night stand, theoretical physicist Sydney wants to leave but cannot help but stay when her mysterious and aloof one night partner, Ken claims he is from a different universe. Theoretical physics becomes a lot less theoretical when Ken tells her the solution to all life's problems exists within the alleged traversable wormhole through space and time in his bathroom. Self loathing is taken to a new extreme when Sydney and Ken are forced to reckon with the very worst of their other selves from across the multiverse.

Reviews

"It’s always impressive, and pleasing, to see a movie that transcends the limits of its production, creatively writing around the obstacles at hand, or even turning them into strengths. Far rarer, and exponentially more impressive, is a movie so well-crafted to its surroundings that its limitations feel as though they were necessary prerequisites; where even if another million dollars were thrown its way, it could not be any better than it already is. Backwards Faces, shot entirely inside a one-bedroom apartment with two actors, is such a miracle."

-Luke Y. Thompson, CineGods

"...a debut movie by director/writer/producer/editor/publicist Chris Aresco which somehow wrangles a multiverse movie out of a girl, a gun, a guy and a single room. Shot in black and white and with no special effects, it’s not just a remarkable achievement but a fantastic film, ingenious, smart, funny, fast-moving and ingenious (it’s worth saying twice)."

-Steve Morrissey, MovieSteve

"They don’t come down the pike often enough, but when you get that cerebral sci-fi low budget indie that manages to blow your mind, a certain amount of celebration should be allowed."

-Eddie Harrison, Film-Authority.com
